The Current Presidency (2003 - Current):

The current presidency has been in existence since the year 2003 after the presidential elections on 27 December 2002. The Office holder, President Mwai Kibaki was sworn in as the third President of the Republic of Kenya on 30 December 2002.

 

The Current Presidency has endeavoured to serve the Kenyan Citizenry in spear-heading such policies as the Vision 2030, e-Government, etc. This is the second term of this Presidency, which began this year, 2008.

 
The Current President
Mwai Kibaki, the president of the republic of Kenya, was born on 15 November, 1931 in Gatuyaini Village, Othaya Division, Nyeri, in the Central Province.

He attended the prestigious Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda where he studied economics, history and political science. While there Kibaki was elected chairman of the Kenya Students Association, and the vice-chairman of the Makerere Students Guild.

He graduated in 1955 with a first class honours bachelor’s degree in Economics, before taking up an appointment as assistant sales manager for the Shell Company of East Africa in Uganda. That same year he earned a scholarship that enabled him to pursue postgraduate studies at any British university of his choice. He enrolled at the prestigious London School of Economics for a bachelor’s of science degree in Public Finance, graduating with distinction.
