Kenya Southern Sudan Liaison Office (KESSULO)

Mandate

The Kenya Government (GoK) and the Government of the then Southern Sudan (GoSS), (now South Sudan after gaining independence in July, 2011) signed a memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in the year 2006 in which Kenya committed to train and build Capacity of GoSS civil servants.

The functions of KESSULO are to:

  • To advise on the status of implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) and
  • To promote Kenya’s trade, investment, bilateral and regional development strategies with South Sudan
  • To support the government and the people of Southern Sudan to transit from civil war to a stable democracy and economic prosperity through the agreed framework of co-operation in the technical and economic fields.
