The State Department is responsible for the coordination of the identification, prioritization, and enactment of policies and legislation vital in driving the national development agenda. Ensuring public participation and stakeholder involvement in policy and legislation development within Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs). The State Department continuously monitors and evaluates the progress of policy and legislative initiatives to ensure timely achievement of the government's developmental objectives.
This department plays a pivotal role in coordinating parliamentary liaison services across MDAs. It fosters seamless interactions between the Executive and Parliament, ensuring the effective and harmonious handling of Government business within the Parliament. Collaborations with MDAs and other relevant institutions are initiated to enhance capacity in policy and legislation-making processes and parliamentary liaison. Furthermore, the department collaborates with Parliament to strengthen accountability within MDAs.
The Cabinet Office executes its communication mandate as provided for under Article 154 (3) of the Constitution through various channels.
Support the Cabinet and Government at large in exercise of its collective responsibility through collective agreement and tracking implementation of decisions.
To assist Portfolio Ministries in development of Cabinet Memoranda and support execution of their duties & responsibilities.
